Katelyn Parker

Katelyn is a licensed Architect specializing in historic preservation, old house renovations, and new houses designed to one day become old houses. Her gateway drug into old house obsession was the 1911 Craftsman Bungalow she and her husband, Brian, bought in 2012. She’s been restoring and renovating it ever since and considers it her “old house laboratory.” She loves to “nerd out” on all things relating to old houses, construction, detailing, and the craftsmanship that goes into making a house a home. Be careful what you ask her because she will infodump for hours on topics such as windows, floor finishes, building science, and plaster walls.

Jake Landry

Jake is a polymath (jack of all trades) who holds a degree in planning, teaches spin classes, leads meditations, and is currently in law school. His interests, hobbies, and passions vary, but one constant is his love for old houses and their charm and craftsmanship. Jake and Katelyn met in early 2021 to look at an old house he was considering taking on as a project, and they instantly bonded over their shared love for broken, wonderful old houses. He loves to dream and design, and very frequently sends texts at 7 am with cool old houses for sale and wild design ideas. He brings a more practical (less nerdy) approach to the topic of house parts, renovation, and living with an old house. His humor and ever-sunny personality will surely brighten your day.
